Melissa Martinez, R.Y.T.
Melissa, (Mel), is from the San Franscico Bay area. She has practiced and studied yoga for over twelve years. Her passion for yoga is contagious. She enjoys blending the powerful healing benefits of asana and pranayama into a fun, often sweat filled experience with mantra repetition. Melissa completed her first 500+ hour teacher training with Bikram Choudhry in 2007 and taught the sequence for three years. She offers a unique vinyasa class that is Bhakti Flow inspired. Bhakti Yoga is simply the practice of love and devotion to the divine source of one’s own unique understanding. Flow refers to the flowing sequence of asanas known as vinyasa. The blend is subtle, effective, and uniquely inspired by her beloved teacher, Rusty Wells and the 240 hour Yoga Alliance Certification for Bhakti Flow with Rusty Wells, Urban Flow San Francisco. The time she has spent with Janet Stone, Stephanie Snyder, Shaelah Morris, Pradeep Teotia, Eric Shaw, MC Yogi, Andrea Maltzer and Carol Lyons of Studio Eight Reno continues to inspire the students she is blessed to serve. She attends teacher trainings, workshops, classes, ashrams and festivals to study with teachers who vibrate with the sacred lineages. www.melissamcyoga.com
Fiana has been passionately studying and practicing yoga for more than twelve years;her first introduction being right here in Reno. She’s certified at the 250-hour level in the U.S., and has completed more than 500 hours of Mandala practice in the Ashtanga Swara Yoga tradition in Mysore, India. She is also a bodywork therapist with more than 850 hours of education. Her teachings reflect the vast and varied accumulation of knowledge and experience from her teachers in America (Nicki Doane & Eddie Modestini, Seane Corne, Richard Freeman, Tim Miller, Ana Forrest, David Swenson, Angela Farmer, Noah Maze) and especially India (Suresh Pawar, Sunnil Chandran). Her classes build natural body heat through Surya Namaskar, therapeutically move from asana to counter-asana, incorporating savasanas to deeply infuse the physiological benefits of the asanas and promote total relaxation. The scientific and systematic approach of yoga illuminates the awareness of one’s divine nature. Fiana’s classes promote body awareness, strength, flexibility and focus on the breath. Once the body becomes unobstructed and strong, mind is easier stilled and in that stillness, all is revealed.trong, mind is better able to be still and in that stillness, all will be revealed.

Angie has explored as many variations of yoga as possible. After diving into a year long 500 hour Advanced Yoga Studies and Training Program, she began teaching in 2009. Always up for a challenge, Angie looks for ways to help her students bring their attention back to the present moment during class. This yoga tool is used to encourage classroom practice into daily living where an extraordinary life can be made out of ordinary moments. Her love of people fuels her classes to incorporate lively music, a sense of humor, a bit of challenge, and play. www.om2art.com
Alicia came to practice yoga first through studying Ashtanga and Hot Vinyasa Yoga and then eventually building her repertoire to include many other disciplines of yoga. After dedicating herself to her practice, she found that yoga became a necessity to keep her more mindful and present in every facet of her life. Sharing the beauty of yoga through teaching has become one of the most rewarding experiences of her life. She enjoys providing a safe and nurturing space for her students to explore the beauty of self-acceptance, both on and off the mat that yoga offers. Alicia Is a Registered Yoga Teacher (200-RYT) through Yoga Alliance. www.agreenery.com
