Kathleen (Kat) Ames CYT has been practicing Yoga since 1992 and has been teaching Yoga since 2000. Since then she has taught over 8,000 hours of yoga and movement classes and owned her own Yoga studio in Northern California. She loves sharing her vast knowledge of alignment and anatomy in Yoga teacher trainings and specialized Yoga workshops. Kat has had advanced teacher training with yoga teaching certifications in Anusara (200 hours), Vinyasa (200 hours), Viniyoga (200 hours), Flow Yoga (200 hours), Ashtanga (100 hours),  Holistic Prenatal/Postnatal (100 hours) and Yin Yoga with the founder Paulie Zink (200 hours). Through yoga Kat has healed herself of many afflictions, including the effects of three abdominal surgeries and four car accidents. And though she was diagnosed with arthritis at the age 21 then again diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis at age 59, today she lives pain free without medication. Kat loves to share the many health and healing benefits of the yoga practice. With her extensive knowledge of anatomy Kat is especially adept at individualizing instruction to each student’s needs and working with, overcoming and preventing students injuries. Kat has also been an instructor of Pilates (group fitness certification through AAAF in 2010), Martial Arts (Nevada state Tae-Kwon-Do champion in 1988 & 1990) and Belly Dance (performing professionally and teaching for over 20 years). Whatever Kat teaches, she does so with a warm heart and a sense of humor.
