Guided Pranayama into Led Primary Series

This class begins with thirty minutes of Prāṇāyāma followed by a detailed instruction of the Primary Series of Ashtanga Yoga. Prāṇāyāma is the breathing practice that supports the physical movements (asana) of this first series, Yoga Chikitsa, also known as yoga therapy. In this class, Sarah will go into specific detail about how bandha (internal locks) and prāṇāyāma (ujjayi breathing) join together to support the asana practice.
Sarah will offer modifications where needed in the practice and give specific instruction on the classic elements that make up ashtanga yoga: breath, bandha, drishti (gazing points), vinyasa (movement breath system) and dhyana (meditation). All levels are welcome to this class, though some experience in ashtanga yoga is recommended.
